Noppert had a good start to the game. An 11-darter gave the darter from Joure a 2-1 lead, but Noppert then missed an arrow on tops to make it 3-1. Menzies then made it 2-2 by hitting 50.
After that, Noppert again held his own leg. From 87, the Dutchman then had another go for a break, but Noppert had no chance for a double. With a 16-darter Menzies then signed for the 3-3.
In the seventh leg came Noppert's slip. He was not out himself in six innings, and was broken by his Scottish opponent. Menzies then threw out 79 to double the lead to 5-3. Noppert halved the deficit via double 8, but then Menzies delivered the verdict on Noppert by ending the match with a 14-darter.
Daryl Gurney also secured a spot in the last sixteen at the Swiss Darts Trophy. Superchin took an early 3-0 lead against Karel Sedlacek and eventually won the match 6-2.
