Josh Rock, Rob Cross and Ross Smith were among those to qualify for the Last 16 at the Swiss Darts Trophy with the former ending the hopes of Jermaine Wattimena of World Grand Prix qualification.

Wattimena immediately fell behind a break against Rock, who threw a 15-darter after the Dutchman missed two darts at the double. The Northern Irishman then ran out to a 4-1 lead with a 50 finish and a 91 check-out.

In the sixth leg, Wattimena grabbed one break back from Rock, and with a 13-darter he closed to 3-4. Wattimena then could not take advantage when Rock was not out in five innings in the eighth leg, as a 16-darter allowed 'Rocky' to make it 5-3. Wattimena stayed in the match by taking the ninth leg, but in the 10th leg Rock decided the match with a 17-darter.

Ross Smith advanced to the last sixteen of this event at the expense of Mike de Decker. 'Smudger' defeated the Belgian 6-4, leaving no Belgian left in this tournament.

The first seven legs of the match all went with the darts. That sequence ended when Smith broke his opponent in the eighth leg with a 42 finish, after De Decker missed seven darts. Decker was able to come back to 4-5, but then Smith finished it off with a beautiful 12-darter.

Rob Cross convincingly made it to the third round of the Euro Tour tournament in Basel. 'Voltage', thanks to an average of 101, triumphed 6-2 against Andrew Gilding, who therefore also knows that he will not compete in the World Grand Prix.

Cross broke his English compatriot in the fourth leg with a 111 finish, followed by two more breaks in succession and Cross took a 4-2 lead after six legs. The former world champion then produced a 13-darter to make it 5-2, before Cross ended the match with a 15-darter.

Madars Razma sent Damon Heta home by winning 6-5 over the number eight seed. The Latvian took a break lead in the first leg via a 12-darter, but squandered the break in the eighth leg after four misses on the double.

Heta then threw out 58 to move to 4-4. The Heat took the lead with a 14-darter, but missed a matchdart in the tenth leg. Razma then forced a deciding leg with double 16. Heta was allowed to start the last leg, but was not out in six innings after two more missed matchdarts. Razma took advantage by winning the match with an 18-darter.
