Matt Campbell captured an important third title on the European
Challenge Tour on Sunday afternoon. The Ninja defeated Wesley Plaisier 5-0 in the final.
On his way to the final the Canadian had beaten Nic Mueller (5-2), Sven Hilling (5-4), Ronny Huybrechts (5-0), José Justicia (5-0), Ricardo Pietreczko (5-3) and Marcel Gerdon (5-2).
With only one tournament left Campbell is now top of the Challenge Tour rankings. Rival Steven Noster has to win the final event to pass Campbell.
The Challenge Tour circuit is open to players who have participated in the Q-School, but have not won a Tour Card.
Due to travel restrictions still in place due to the corona pandemic, this year's Challenge Tour has been split into a separate circuit for both British and European players. The winners of both tours will be allowed to participate in the upcoming World Championship and receive a PDC Tour Card for 2022 and 2023.
