Natalie Gilbert has won the final tournament of the PDC
Women's Series. The 40-year-old Englishwoman was too strong for Lorraine Winstanley in the final, 5-3.
Gilbert is only the tenth player to succeed in winning a Women's Series tournament. "I'm lost for words," an emotional Gilbert said following her victory in the final. "It's an amazing feeling. I'm still shaking, I just can't believe it. I'm so proud of myself. I've had some battles with myself within the game for so long so to finally perform as I can is an amazing feeling."
Gilbert darting story is a unique one as she explains. "My darting journey started after a stroke, having been wheelchair bound. I play darts to help with my balance, never in a million years did I think I'd be here and competing in events like this let alone winning," she says. "It's nice to feel you can compete and be in and amongst them. I hope it can continue!"
"I'm going on holiday tomorrow. So when I get over that relax I'll be back on the practice board. Can't let the momentum drop so it's full steam ahead."
