Chisnall 'not worried' about dropping out of top 16 ahead of Masters: "I'm just going to do what I did last year"

Dave Chisnall survived five match darts and produced an epic great escape to see off Ryan Searle at the 2023 Masters 6-5 with a 161 checkout in particular changing the game. Next up will be Peter Wright.

"I'm over the moon, I was talking to Roger (Chizzy's manager) before I came into the venue that I always slow on these TV tournaments where it is first to six and I did it again. Luckily for me, he bust that score and then I had a chance for it to be 5-4. Then I hold, it was one of those shots (161) that I missed earlier on so I thought I'd go that way again and luckily it went in," said Chisnall post match.

"It is the luck of the draw, one big checkout from me wins me the game. To be fair, the 140 to leave 161 was a needed shot."

He has now fallen out of the top 16 in the Order of Merit but for Chisnall, he believes a year like 2022 with constant results on the ProTour and European Tour will help him return.

"Obviously it hurts. I'm just going to do what I did last year, I thought I had a great year last year on the floor. TV tournaments I wasn't that good and just do better in the TV tournaments, I'll be back in that top 16 no problem. I'm not worried."
