Dave Chisnall has reached the semi-finals for the third time at the Masters after seeing off Michael Smith in an all St Helens battle 10-8.
Chisnall has been ultra impressive this weekend in his first tournament since an abrupt end to his World Championship due to COVID-19.
This continued as he averaged 97.5, hit seven 180's and four ton plus finishes on the way to downing the recent World finalist.
Chisnall took out 105 to begin the tie against Smith and added a 124 checkout to that tally by going 2-1 up.
At the interval, Smith though was within touching distance at 3-2 down with a 95 checkout as he kept pace with his fellow St Helens ace.
But three legs on the spin saw Smith edge into a 4-3 lead. This lead though wasn't built upon as Chisnall took out 153 to break throw and make it 5-4.
A turning point followed as it was another ton plus checkout in 125 on bull, 25, bull to go 6-5 ahead and he went two clear from there as Smith missed two darts at double.
Chisnall went one away as his dominance continued but he nearly didn't get over the line with six match darts squandered and Smith looked to force a decider.
But in the end, Chisnall sunk double 18 to claim the tie and not allow Smith to have a shot at claiming it.
