Classy Cameron Menzies seals maiden PDC ranking title with Players Championship 29 win

Cameron Menzies has condemned Stephen Bunting to a 6th ProTour final loss this season with the Scot becoming the latest new winner. He sealed Players Championship 29 defeating 'The Bullet' 8-4 in the final.

Menzies has long been one of the most in-form players in darts but not been able to get the rewards for his high averages and wins. He has got the title deserving of that as he seals the biggest win of his life on the final double header of ProTour action of the year.

Menzies hit a 78 checkout to break and hit the front early. He hit 86 to stave off Bunting's pressure and led 2-0. Menzies continued his supreme doubling with a 54 checkout for 3-1.

Bunting missed 141 for a nine-dart finish narrowly missing double 12 and he cleaned up an 11-darter for 3-2 down. But Bunting continued his revival and made it 3-3 within 23 darts over the two legs. But Menzies broke back immediately to go 4-3 up. It was back-to-back with a hold of throw for 5-3.

Menzies couldn't get a dart off 101 though for 6-3 to break again and Bunting took aim at 52 albeit he missed two to hold and the Scot went two away.

Bunting took out 120 to break throw and go two down as Menzies looked to go one away. Menzies missed two darts to break back and he handed Bunting more chances to get within one. But he missed double 11. Menzies missed another dart at double four as the line drew closer.

The script continued though as Menzies finally broke back for 7-4. He was throwing for the title and pinned 60 for the win.
