Clayton battles past Lewis, Rodriguez thrashes Cullen and Humphries seals narrow Meikle win

The second round has continued at the European Darts Grand Prix with Jonny Clayton, Rowby-John Rodriguez and Luke Humphries through to the final day in Stuttgart.

Clayton faced Adrian Lewis in one of the highly anticipated ties of the session and it went the way of the Premier League Darts leader who sealed a 6-3 triumph.

He averaged 93 with 60% on the doubles and a high checkout of 100. 'Jackpot' went 2-0 up before Clayton levelled up at 2-2 and he broke throw from there with an 81 checkout on the bull which was consolidated with the 100 checkout on double 10 to make it 4-2.

His run of legs continued as he went one away at 5-2 but despite Lewis breaking back, a 68 checkout saw Clayton claim it.

The player who he lost to in the weekly roadshow on Thursday night at the O2 was Joe Cullen who may be among the forerunners in the Premier League but when it comes to the European Tour, it is an early exit.

'The Rockstar' was thrashed by Rowby-John Rodriguez who has been in some superb form as of late and this was another showcase as he pounced on only 14% on the doubles and an 84 average from Cullen.

Luke Humphries was the last victor on the European Tour and as he looks for a hat-trick of titles, he took a narrow win over Ryan Meikle.

Humphries played well with a 97.5 average and four 180's en route but it was only taken in a narrow 6-5 win for 'Cool Hand Luke'.
