Lukeman smashes Van Gerwen in sensational rout, Schindler seals commanding win against Razma

Michael van Gerwen has been dumped out of the European Darts Grand Prix and will not seal yet another European Tour title this weekend in Stuttgart.

Martin Lukeman, a finalist on the European Tour this season in Munich is into the World Matchplay spots and has been one of the leading lights on the European Tour in 2022.

But he produced one of the most comprehensive performances of his career so far smashing MVG in a 6-1 rout.

Van Gerwen averaged 89 in the end but it was 1/14 on the doubles which showed the fault for the Dutchman with Lukeman himself hitting 6/16 but he pinned three 180's, a 96 average and a highest checkout of 110.

The story of the tie showed this doubling disaster in evidence as Van Gerwen missed six chances to make it 2-1 and moments later five chances to make it 2-3. Instead, it was 4-1 to Lukeman, who went on to hit a 16-darter and a 14-darter for the win.

While for Martin Schindler who similar to Martin Lukeman has been superb this season, it was another brilliant display as he downed Madars Razma on home soil.

Schindler sealed a commanding 6-2 victory with a 94 average and 37% on the doubles and moves into the final day alongside 'Smash'.
