Jonny Clayton has claimed a potentially crucial victory over Nathan Aspinall in the penultimate game of Night 12 of Premier League Darts action.
Both players are among those vying for play-off spots with Clayton sitting just outside to start the night but despite the tie being one full of missed doubles, it was 'The Ferret' who prevailed 8-6.
Clayton produced a strong start to the tie opening up a 4-2 lead over Aspinall but this deficit was reduced to 5-3 as 'The Asp' kept himself in the tie.
But a break to make it 5-4 dragged Aspinall right back into it and after Clayton squandered four darts at doubles, Aspinall returned to square it up at 5-5.
Clayton edged in front again at 6-5 but only after Aspinall missed five darts at doubles.
Aspinall took out 62 to level up once more at 6-6 but as the legs started to run out, Clayton converted double 10 to assure himself of at least a point.
With Aspinall not able to hit a 130 checkout or the requisite 79 checkout for a draw, Clayton returned for double 20 for the win.
