Jonny Clayton started his day at Players Championship 26 with a win over Ryan Meikle as well as a nine-dart finish pinning the perfect leg in the third leg as he went 2-1 up.
He went 180, 180, 141 before going on to take four out of the next five legs to seal victory before then losing out to Jermaine Wattimena in the second round.
It is the 40th of the season and two away from 2021's mark of 42 in a year with 47 the highest ever back in 2019.
