Jonny Clayton has claimed a big win to begin Night Ten of this year's
Premier League Darts by seeing off
James Wade in a clinical display.
Clayton pulled clear from 5-5 with three straight legs to seal a 8-5 win with a 105.3 average and six 180's.
Wade began the tie with an immediate break of throw taking out 86 but he couldn't consolidate this thanks to brilliance from Clayton who smashed in a 150 checkout in responsse.
It was time for Clayton to not be able to consolidate his break as he missed double eight for a 136 checkout and Wade pounced with a 121 checkout to go 2-1 up. He did consolidate this time with Clayton missing three at double and Wade led 3-1.
Clayton came back with a 134 checkout on tops, tops to make it 3-3 and he led from there with a fourth 180 and a 60 checkout to make it 4-3.
They continue to jostle for position with Clayton holding a slender lead until 6-5 when he pulled clear to assure himself of a point and he concluded the tie from there.
