Jonny Clayton is through to his seventh weekly final of this year's
Premier League Darts and his dominance has resulted in the reigning champion finishing top of the table with a week to spare.
Clayton becomes only the fourth different player to finish top with only Michael van Gerwen currently also qualified for Berlin out of the top four. In seeing off Michael Smith 6-4, he also quashed his chances of reaching the play-offs.
He led to begin the tie before Smith levelled up with an 82 checkout for 1-1. He edged ahead though at 3-2 with a 180 and 120 checkout before parity was sealed once more.
Smith went 4-3 up himself with a 111 checkout but Clayton broke back and pinned a 78 checkout to make it 4-4. Before 'The Ferret' pounced on darts to force a decider to seal a 6-4 win.
One player who could feasibly be joining Clayton in Finals Night is his next opponent in the final,
Joe Cullen who breezed past Peter Wright for another emphatic win.
He saw off Wright 6-1 who himself is chasing the play-offs pinning 66% on the doubles in the process.
Now 'The Rockstar' is into his fourth weekly final of the campaign in a night win which would see him right in contention going into Newcastle next week.
