Jonny Clayton will face Dimitri van den Bergh in the
World Series of Darts Finals after a dominant win over Michael van Gerwen.
Clayton will look for back-to-back TV titles after winning the World Grand Prix earlier in the month after winning 11-6 with a 101.5 average denying MVG a first major of the year once more.
Van Gerwen had a poor start to proceedings and was royally punished for it as Clayton went 3-1 up with a 64 checkout.
Back-to-back 180's and double 16 saw an 11-darter and a 4-1 advantage at the interval.
Van Gerwen attempted to get himself back in the tie with a 170 checkout to trail 5-3 but Clayton continued to build his lead with an 87 on the bull to make it 6-3.
His throw was never underthreat by Van Gerwen which was the difference as he went 8-5 up and after MVG missed double 20 for a 160, Clayton produced a 62 checkout and then held to go 10-5 up and one away from an incredible win.
A hold after Clayton missed two match darts saw the match prolonged but only for a further leg as the Welshman took the win.
