Jonny Clayton is into the semi-finals of the
Nordic Darts Masters after sweeping aside Peter Wright in a 10-3 success for 'The Ferret'.
Clayton will now have his first
World Series triumph on his mind when he takes on either Michael van Gerwen or Madars Razma after seeing off Wright with a 103.8 average punishing 18 missed darts at doubles also from the World Matchplay champion.
It was Wright who started brighter with a 180 and a 62 checkout for the opening leg but it was 127 on the bull for Clayton who immediately made it 1-1.
He followed that up with a 104 checkout to go 2-1 before securing a break of throw after Wright squandered five darts at doubles.
At the interval, his dominance continued with a 4-1 lead with a 103 average to boot. Wright's nightmare continued with his doubling stats sitting at 1/12 as Clayton surged 6-1 ahead.
He finally stopped the rot and offered some late resistance as he sat at 7-3 down at the interval. But a 11 and 12-darter handed Clayton a 9-3 lead before a 71 checkout on double 16 handed him the win.
