Dave Chisnall will face either Joe Cullen or Jose de Sousa in the final of the 2022 Masters after a clinical display to down defending champion Jonny Clayton 11-6.
Chisnall will contest his sixth major final and if Cullen gets through, a new major winner is guaranteed to begin 2022. This after a 97.5 average, five 180's and 50% on the doubles from Chisnall.
Clayton began with the early impetus opening up a 2-0 lead on Chisnall but the latter returned to the foray with a 101 checkout before making it three consecutive legs to lead 3-2.
He continued to edge in front with an 81 checkout to make it 4-3. Clayton levelled up at the interval to make it 5-5.
Chisnall took out 117 as he continued to add more legs at 7-5 up and his advantage soon went to 8-5 with a 72 checkout.
Clayton continued to be in trouble as Chisnall broke to go further clear at 9-5. It was five legs on the spin for the St Helens ace as he went one away from the finishing line consolidating the break of throw.
Chisnall missed three match darts and this allowed Clayton to break back and make 10-6. But Chisnall produced again with a 12 darts on double 20 to claim victory.
