The seeds continue to enter the fray at the
European Darts Grand Prix with
Jonny Clayton,
Dave Chisnall and
Josh Rock finding their way through successfully to the final day of the latest
European Tour in Sindelfingen.
Clayton was facing Chris Dobey in a battle of former Masters champions which was the tie of the afternoon session and it delivered with darting drama. 'The Ferret' who has not been at his darting vintage for a long while showed some semblance of that with his trademark ton plus checkouts. He hit four in all including a high of 127 with 75% on the outer ring punishing 26.3% from his opponent in a tie that was won at the death. He punished four missed match darts in the deciding leg to snatch a 6-5 victory and move through.
For Dave Chisnall, it was not his best either. But he managed to find his way safely past the Dynamite in the form of Keane Barry in a 6-3 win. He produced two maximums in a match that could've delivered in the high scoring stakes. But neither player caught alight. Unlike Josh Rock in the final game.
Despite only averaging 90, he produced some showstopping moments of another variety as he went fishing in Sindelfingen. He produced two maximums en route to dispatching Jeffrey Sparidaans. But most impressive was his two 170 checkouts on his way to a 6-2 victory. All three return tomorrow as the starter has been devoured and the main course of Humphries-Littler among others is en route tonight.
