After a session dominated by the seeds prevailing at the German Darts Open, two fell to conclude it in Jena in the form of Rob Cross and Joe Cullen.

Cross fell to a superb display from Brian Raman. The Belgian sealed the win in a deciding leg against the recent first-time European Tour winner (finally).

Raman had to chase in the early stages after Cross made it 3-1 via a 12-darter. However, 'Voltage' missed two chances to make it 4-1. Raman hit double 8 to close to 3-2 and then evened the score via tops after Cross again missed six doubles. The following legs went with the darts, until Raman broke in the deciding leg with a 12-darter to take the win.

The clash between Joe Cullen and Stephen Bunting also went over the full 11 legs. Cullen looked set for a smooth victory when he managed to lead 4-1, but Bunting fought his way back to 4-4. Cullen then got to 5-4, but missed five match darts in the tenth leg. Bunting forced a deciding leg. Cullen missed two more matchdarts in the final leg, before Bunting struck on double 8.

Danny Noppert though on the other hand moved through. He saw off Dylan Slevin in a hard fought 6-5 win for 'The Freeze'. Now Raman, Bunting and Noppert are into Sunday's action.
