Night Two of the 2021
Premier League Darts has concluded with
Rob Cross claiming a comfortable win over
James Wade to end proceedings.
Cross won through 7-3 with a 94 average, three 180's and 43% on the doubles to continue his good start and make it 3/4 possible points so far.
It was Wade's birthday but Cross was doing all he could to stop the party as he surged into a brilliant 3-0 lead in the early going and took the game to 'The Machine'.
It could have been 4-0 but he fluffed his lines and Wade was allowed back in for his trademark double 10 to trail 3-1.
But 'Voltage' bounced back superbly and took out 66 to go 4-1 up despite only averaging 87 in holding a three leg cushion.
He held with double 16 to make it 5-1 as he sat one away from at least a point. A 101 checkout saw Wade hold at 5-2.
But a hold on double 18 saw Cross assure himself of a point at 6-2 as he went to the brink of a first win this week.
A 180 pressured Wade and he buckled as Cross was given an opportunity at one dart from 43 which he missed to claim the victory.
Wade replied with double 10 to make it 6-3 but Cross tied it up pinning double eight after the former couldn't pin 161.
