Rob Cross has ended his
Premier League Darts campaign on a high with victory over Glen Durrant in a battle of the already eliminated players.
Cross won through 7-5 in the Night Nine opener as he confounded Durrant to become the first player in the history of the event to finish on zero points.
Cross got off and running with a 66 checkout for an immediate break of throw but Durrant produced a superb 110 checkout in reply to make it 1-1.
There was a first hold from there as he hit double eight to move 2-1 in front. Durrant missed a dart at double 20 and Cross came back for double 10 to make it 2-2.
He made it 4-3 pouncing on two missed darts at doubles from Durrant but 'Duzza' battled back and landed double 20 to square it up at 4-4.
But Cross cleaned up 77 to edge back in front with a break before consolidating that with a hold on double nine to ensure at least a point from his final fixture.
Durrant forced a decider but Cross missed a match dart at 105 only to return with Durrant not able to muster any pressure. He pinned double eight first time to complete the victory.
