Darts legend Phil Taylor considers investing in Port Vale FC with pop singer Robbie Williams

Darts legend Phil Taylor says he would possibly be open to investing in his favorite soccer club Port Vale with pop singer Robbie Williams, who is a close friend of 'The Power'.

Williams is interested in putting money into his beloved Vale, which currently plays in League One, according to British tabloid The Sun. Williams says he is inspired by the impact Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had since they bought Wrexham. The Welsh club won the National League last season and is now going for another promotion.

"It's a beautiful story. It's fascinating. It's a fairy tale. I would love to be involved in something like that. My great love in football is Port Vale, a very small team in the UK, so sometime in the future I will have something to do with that,'' said the famous singer of the music group Take That.

But Taylor also appears to be a huge fan of Port Vale. The 16-time world champion, who will retire for good in 2024, was asked if he would also be open to investing in the soccer club. "I'm friends with Robbie, he's not mentioned anything [about investing with him], but if he does ask me then I'd probably consider it yeah!" he told talkSPORT. "I might actually even get a game... with a dodgy hip!"

"I am a Port Vale fan, yeah, I was only about half a mile from the ground as a boy. My dad was a fan, he used to take me down in them days, lift me over the turnstile because we couldn't afford pay and then I carried on as being a fan of them, yeah!"

Surprisingly, Taylor admitted that he is also a fan of Stoke City, Port Vale's arch-rival. "I do look at the Stoke results and I do like them to win. I like all of Stoke, Crewe [Alexandra] and Vale to win, if they can. I have a little bet on each Saturday, it doesn't get paid out very often!"
