Dave Chisnall holds off Mensur Suljovic to reach last 16 of UK Open, Stephen Bunting and Damon Heta come through last-leg deciders

Dave Chisnall saw off Michael van Gerwen's conqueror Mensur Suljovic as he tries to finally win his first PDC major at the UK Open. Chisnall averaged 98 in a 10-6 victory over the resurgent Austrian. The best run that 'Chizzy' has had at the UK Open is a semi final in 2012.

On stage two, Kevin Doets missed four match darts to beat Stephen Bunting and have his best run at a major. Doets showed more good signs on building from his World Championship campaign, as the Dutchman threw six 180s and hit three ton-plus checkouts, but couldn't hold it together when he needed to most and the reigning Masters champion was there to mop up.

There was drama also on the main stage, where Damon Heta came back to beat Nathan Aspinall in a last-leg decider and put his name in the fifth round draw. Aspinall, a winner in the Premier League on Thursday, was 8-4 up at one point, but Heta showed some Aussie fight to win the six of the next seven legs to go through what turned out to be a nail-biting encounter.

Keane Barry had no trouble in beating Ryan Meikle 10-3. The Irishman has had success at this tournament before, reaching the semi finals in 2022. A good run will go a long way to defending that ranking money as Barry attempts to solidify his place in the world's top 50.
