Chris is into the quarter-finals at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, setting up a showdown with Gerwyn Price at the Ally Pally with a thrilling 4-3 win over Kevin Doets.
With former world champion Price awaiting in the last eight, both players showed signs of early nerves in the opening set. Although the scoring was pretty on point, both Doets and Dobey struggled on the outer ring. Despite 12 missed darts at double by Dobey, including many for the set, eventually it was 'Hollywood' that moved into a 1-0 set lead.

Going behind early doesn't concern Doets though, as seen in his earlier ties this tournament against Noa-Lynn van Leuven, Michael Smith and Krzysztof Ratajski. As such, seeing the Dutchman bounce back strongly in set 2 didn't come as a surprise, but bounce back Doets did. With legs of 17, 15 and 12, Doets took the set 3-1 to get back on level terms at 1-1.
Dobey though, really started to find his feet in set 3 and upping his average towards the 100 mark, raced through the set in three straight legs to immediately restore his one set advantage at 2-1.
Doets immediately stopped the mini Dobey charge in the opening leg of set 4. It was the Englishman who took the next two though, moving one leg away from a third set. As Dobey couldn't take advantage of having the darts I'm leg 4 though, Doets forced a decider and suddenly it was him who.was throwing for the set. Despite Dobey getting to the double first in the decider, 'Hollywood' spurned a total of five darts at double with Doets punishing to make it 2-2.
Set 5 again another tight and tense battle between the pair. Again it perhaps more tense than it needed to be for Dobey as a multitude of missed darts at double kept allowing Doets opportunities to punish. As the set went all the way to a deciding leg, Dobey slipped into the single 9 when aiming for double 12, with Doets nailing the bull for a 130 finish and a 3-2 lead.
The Dutchman held throw firmly in the opener of set 6, edging closer to the quarters. Dobey though, wasn't done yet, holding in the next leg before breaking the Doets throw with a nerveless 48 checkout in leg 3 to take control of the set. This time Dobey made no mistake with the set on the line either, nailing double 8 to level up the contest at 3-3.
The double trouble returned for Dobey in the final set though. Three clear darts at double 8 came and went, allowing Doets to break throw in leg 1. The Dutchman couldn't take full advantage though, with Dobey breaking straight back. Holding firm in leg 3, Dobey was then back to just one from victory. This time, Dobey finally make no mistake, nailing double 10 in the very next leg to take the win.
