As the Hungarian Darts Trophy continues in Budapest Mike De Decker, Luke Woodhouse and Scott Williams have all secured a Sunday return and progression to round 3.
Josh Rock, who with a win could become Northern Irish number one was taking on Mike De Decker in his second round tie. Although Rock was favourite heading into the match, it was the Belgian who looked was playing by far the better of the two, racing into a 5-0 lead, with three ton-plus checkouts. Rock fired back in kind with a 127 checkout in leg 6 to get on the board, but after missed doubles in the following leg from Rock, De Decker took his chance and a 6-1 win.
Next up, Rob Cross took on Luke Woodhouse. Despite Cross being the bigger name, Woodhouse was the better player early on, averaging 18 points higher than his opponent as he moved 2-1 ahead. Cross though kept scrapping and his brilliant finishing was giving him a chance. After 'Voltage' missed an opportunity to get level at 4-4 though, Woodhouse regained his two leg lead at 5-3 and a leg later it was all over, Woodhouse a 6-3 winner.
Dirk van Duijvenbode versus Scott Williams was up next. On an afternoon of shocks, it was the unseeded player who again took control early on in this one, racing into a 3-0 lead. When Williams went to 5-2 clear, van Duijvenbode's back was right up against the wall. Although he pulled one leg back there was no special comeback as Williams prevailed 6-3.
