Jose de Sousa has claimed his third consecutive win in the 2021
Premier League Darts by seeing off Glen Durrant 7-4 with a 96 average and five 180's.
This saw Durrant resigned to a seventh straight defeat and saw him become the first holder to go out at the first stage of the competition.
Durrant made a positive start to proceedings picking out double 20 for first blood.
De Sousa missed two darts at double 20 for a 58 finish but landed double 10 following that after Durrant missed three darts at double to break.
But Durrant went 2-1 up to show some fight taking out 105 on double 16 to regain the lead with De Sousa ready to break.
He continued to battle though and went 3-2 up in a must-win game. The match continued to go with the throw as De Sousa took out 61 on double 16 to level.
De Sousa began the requisite leg with seven perfect darts before missing treble 19 for what would have been a second nine-darter of the year but he returned to take out 52 on double 20 for an 11-dart break.
He missed seven darts at doubles following that but eventually landed double one last dart to consolidate the break after Durrant had missed bull for a 123 checkout.
Durrant was on the brink of elimination from there though as De Sousa made sure of a point and his fate was sealed as 'The Special One' claimed the win.
