Portugal returned to
World Cup of Darts action with
Jose de Sousa leading the line and impressing with an individual average of over 105 as he and partner Vitor Jerónimo overcame Italy.
"It's the second consecutive year we've played Italy and the games are always difficult. You can play better and you lose so I'm happy with the win. I feel sorry for team Italy as I have a lot of fans in Italy but we come to do our job more for my partner as it's his first time," said De Sousa to Online Darts,
"I think the most difficult is the first game, you are inside the tournament. We never know what could happen."
Also he spoke about the effect that Portugal returning to the tournament has. "This shows if they work hard, they have this opportunity to come World Cup or become a professional player. It's a big thing. I give opportunities to many people, many players over there, I hope in the future we have more players in the PDC."
Vitor Jerónimo also joined De Sousa for the first time and discussed his first taste of big stage darts.
"This is amazing. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for many players. There were nerves, too much heat. He's used to the stage, nobody told me you are going to a sauna," said Jerónimo.
