De Sousa, Smith, Cross and Heta through opening ties at Players Championship 15

The action has begun at Players Championship 15 with many of the big names in a depleted field heading through to the Last 64.

Jose de Sousa is back to his prior role of top seed today and saw off William Borland 6-1 on the same board as Scott Waites who moves through.

While yesterday's winner, Michael Smith edged past Glen Durrant 6-4, Rob Cross squeezed past Connor Scutt.

While there has also been wins for Dirk van Duijvenbode, Damon Heta, Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall.

For Krzysztof Ratajski, Nathan Aspinall, Dimitri van den Bergh and Daryl Gurney though, they are the first big names to fall today.
