De Zwaan honest on darting demise: 'Missing the World Championship two years in a row has hit particularly hard'

Jeffrey de Zwaan recaptured his PDC Tour Card early this year. The 26-year-old Dutchman wants to make a fresh start.

De Zwaan particularly regrets missing the World Championship for the second year in a row.

"Two years ago, I got a phone call from the tournament director just a few days before the start of the World Championship to say I was called up as a reserve player. Should anyone test positive for corona, I would still be allowed to fill in. But that did not happen and in the end my management had to pay the costs for the move to England themselves," De Zwaan told 433 Darts.

Goal

"Having to miss the last World Championship again hurt particularly badly," De Zwaan continued. "After all, I know what I am capable of, once I was 20th in the world rankings and reached the semi-finals of the World Matchplay. That is therefore my goal for the coming years, to reach that level again."
