Defending champion Price eases past Van Duijvenbode to reach PDC World Darts Championship Quarter-Finals

Gerwyn Price will face either Jonny Clayton or Michael Smith in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after returning following a slow start to down Dirk van Duijvenbode 4-1 in sets.

Price reeled off 12 legs in a row to see off the Dutchman recovering from a set down with five ton plus checkouts and his charge to win back-to-back World titles continues.

Van Duijvenbode edged a scrappy opening set 3-2 to begin the tie but this is as good as it got for 'The Titan' with Price reeling off consecutive legs to level up.

He followed that up to make it six legs on the spin to hit the front with six 180's and a 95 average. Before a pivotal moment in the tie as Price took out 132 on the bull to make it 3-1 and go one away from the match.

This was bettered as he pinned a 164 to go up in the requisite set before finishing with another flourish in the form of a 136 checkout to send out a statement to the field.
