Not for the first time,
Deta Hedman has withdrawn from a darts tournament because she had to play against a transgender player. 'The Heart of Darts' was supposed to face
Noa-Lynn van Leuven in the quarterfinals of the 22nd event of the PDC
Women's Series on Saturday, but Hedman withdrew.
Hedman is considered a staunch opponent of allowing transgender players into women's tournaments. She previously withdrew from the Denmark Open in 2024 when she also had to play against Van Leuven at that tournament. The 65-year-old was one of the lobbyists to ban transgender players from the WDF and this eventually led to the WDF's decision earlier this year to ban transgenders from the women's circuit from now on.
In the PDC, however, this is not yet the case. The PDC has already indicated several times that Van Leuven meets the criteria set by the DRA. It is not yet known whether this action by Hedman will have any consequences for her.
