Dirk van Duijvenbode and Mike de Decker race into quarterfinals at Players Championship Finals 2024

After a quarterfinal place at the European Championship recently, Dirk van Duijvenbode has now also made it to the last eight at the Players Championship Finals. That was at the expense of Jermaine Wattimena, who was defeated 10-5.

Wattimena delivered a super match Saturday afternoon against Josh Rock. 'The Machine Gun' won that match 6-0 thanks to an average of 102.48. Van Duijvenbode had a tough 6-3 victory over Florian Hempel. In the match between the two Dutchmen the roles were reversed. With an average of 99.51 Van Duijvenbode played a good match, while Wattimena did not reach his level with an average of 90.85.

With a 15-darter and an 11-darter, Van Duijvenbode took an immediate break lead. Wattimena broke back, but Van Duijvenbode then went into the break with a 4-1 lead. After the break 'Aubergenius' ran out further to 6-1. Wattimena then managed to come back and make it 3-7, but any hopes of a comeback were immediately dashed when Van Duijvenbode hit 73 and 77 to lead 9-3. Wattimena fought his way back to 9-5 before Van Duijvenbode finished the job by hitting double 5;

Mike de Decker also managed to advance to the last eight at the Players Championship Finals. 'The Real Deal' reached his second quarterfinal at a PDC major by defeating Niels Zonneveld 10-4.
