Earlier this month
Dirk van Duijvenbode had to compete in qualifying tournaments in an attempt to reach the upcoming Euro Tours. That clearly went well for 'Aubergenius' as he managed to qualify for both the Hungarian Darts Trophy and the Swiss Darts Trophy.
In one of his qualifying matches for the Hungarian Darts Trophy, Van Duijvenbode delivered an excellent match against Mervyn King. The Dutch darter won that match 6-0 with an average of 115.62. However, his scoring average in that match was even more impressive.
Van Duijvenbode started all of his six legs with at least two trebles in his first turn. In as many as five of the six legs, he managed to be under 100 in a leg after nine arrows.
In total, the former World Grand Prix finalist managed to throw six 180s and nine other scores in which he produced two trebles. As a result, his scoring average - looking after the first nine darts per leg - came to a ridiculous average of 141.33.
After the match against King, Van Duijvenbode also won convincingly over Graham Usher (6-2) and Graham Hall (6-3) to qualify for the Euro Tour tournament in Budapest. In the qualifier for the Swiss Darts Open, Van Duijvenbode dealt with Leighton Bennett (6-4), Jitse van der Wal (6-3) and Jim Williams (6-3).
