Danny Noppert and Dirk van Duijvenbode are the first players from the early winners to seal victory on Day Two of the Grand Slam of Darts.
After the eight losing players from their openers faced off, it was Noppert facing Simon Whitlock and Van Duijvenbode taking on Rob Cross to start the winners and for the latter seal qualification for the Last 16 first.
While for 'The Freeze', he is on the brink of moving through after sealing a 5-2 win over Whitlock. He is not assured yet with Mensur Suljovic his next opponent who is now third with two points. Whitlock who won yesterday is also on two points and faces Christian Perez tomorrow.
He broke 'The Wizard' in the opening leg with an 11-darter and doubled his lead from there. Another 11-darter made it 3-1 before breaking Whitlock again.
'The Wizard' attempted to show some resolve with a 142 checkout but that was merely a consolation as he lost in the following leg.
While Van Duijvenbode took down Cross in a 5-3 win to seal his spot. This was despite starting poorly and going 3-1 down after four legs. Out of nowhere, he hit a 10-darter to make it 3-2 and this started his revival as he took the lead on double four at 4-3. He then threw for the match and with a 61 checkout took the win.
