Double Dutch delight as Van Gerwen and Noppert seal Quarter-Final spots at Players Championship Finals

Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert are the latest through to the final day of action at the Players Championship Finals with double Dutch delight in Minehead.

Van Gerwen was on the Main Stage facing Dimitri van den Bergh in the highly touted tie of the session but as has been their head to head record, it was another notch on the win column for the Green Machine.

A 10-6 victory as he heads into the final day as favourite with a near 106 average, 10 180's and a high checkout of 102 en route saw him over the line.

To start the tie, he was averaging over 25 points more than Van den Bergh and sailed into a 4-1 lead which in reality did the damage. He missed five darts for 7-3 at the next interval with Van den Bergh pinching a hold at 6-4 down going on to seal a 10-dart break at 6-5 but he couldn't consolidate with Van Gerwen returning for an 11-darter and was soon one away at 9-6.

Missing a chance at 71 to keep himself in it, Van Gerwen hit double eight to seal the deal in the end.

Joined by Noppert who in comparison had to come from 4-0 down to see off Matt Campbell and continue his love affair with Minehead.

He sealed it in a dramatic last leg decider busting double 20 but returned with Campbell way back and 'The Freeze' kept his cool when it mattered most to move through.
