Dirk van Duijvenbode have joined the last 32 at the 2024
Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp on Friday night. Van Duijvenbode in particular impressed in his opening match.
Van Duijvenbode managed to record an average of 103.67 and a finishing percentage of 54.5 percent in his duel against
Jonny Clayton. Clayton missed many doubles (2/10) and was defeated 6-2 by 'Aubergenius'.
In the opening leg, Clayton already missed four doubles to get on the scoreboard. Van Duijvenbode punished these misses with a 74 finish and then took a 2-0 lead with a 16-darter. Clayton won the third leg before Van Duijvenbode ran out to 4-1 with a 14-darter and a 13-darter. The sixth leg was taken by Clayton, but Van Duijvenbode responded with a 13-darter in the seventh leg. The Dutch darter then managed to clinch victory with an 11-darter.
Doets also secured a spot in the second round of the Euro Tour tournament in Antwerp with a fine comeback. 'Hawk Eye' fell behind 4-2 against Host Nation Qualifier Francois Schweyen, but then began his comeback.
With an 86 finish and a 15-darter, Doets returned to 4-4. Schweyen then missed a chance to win the ninth leg before Doets made it 5-4 with a 16-darter. Schweyen then squandered six chances to force a final leg. Then it was Doets who clinched the match with an 18-darter.
