DRA post list of offences and sanctions: Fine and conditional suspension for Van Barneveld and Menzies after inappropriate conduct as Anderson, Humphries, Aspinall all appear

The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has, for the first time in years, published a summary of disciplinary matters within professional darts. The document, covering the period from 2023 through 2026, lists several players who received sanctions in recent years for breaching the code of conduct.

Menzies sanctioned after Worlds incident
Cameron Menzies also received a heavy disciplinary penalty. The Scot drew attention at the World Darts Championship by repeatedly striking the underside of his table.
The DRA handed Menzies a four-month suspended ban, running until 07/23/2027. He was also fined 2,500 British pounds.
The published summary provides insight into the disciplinary measures imposed by the DRA in recent years. The independent body oversees compliance with the code of conduct in professional darts and can issue warnings, fines, and (suspended) bans for violations.
Raymond van Barneveld appears multiple times. The five-time world champion was disciplined twice in 2025. The most serious incident occurred at Players Championship 2 in Wigan. According to the DRA, on 04/07/2025 Van Barneveld was guilty of “inappropriate behavior and offensive language.” The Dutchman received a three-month suspended ban, running until 04/09/2026. He was also fined 3,000 British pounds.

Because it was a suspended ban, Van Barneveld did not actually have to serve it. However, the punishment effectively hung over him. Any new offense within the set period could have triggered the suspension to be enforced.

Strikingly, Van Barneveld was cited again in a disciplinary matter a few months later. At Players Championship 15 in Germany, on 30/8/2025, he allegedly failed to report damage to his hotel room. Despite his suspended ban still being in effect at that time, the sanction was limited to an official warning. No additional fine or activation of the suspended ban followed.
Others to appear on the list included the Dom Taylor positive drugs test, he returned this past week to win an open locally with a 103 average. Others included Gary Anderson for aggressive and abusive behaviour back at last year's World Matchplay.
With MODUS and WDF tournaments also falling fowl of this, there are such instances as Barry Copeland being suspended until July 2026 for inappropriate behaviour and language last year. Ryan Hogarth too at the WDF was fined £250 and given a formal warning for offensive social media posting.
Humphries, Cullen and Aspinall appear
Others to appear on the list included Luke Humphries for using offensive language. The same for Nathan Aspinall, Joe Cullen and also Scott Williams for making an offensive gesture during a European Tour where he flipped off a crowd heckler in Munich. It varies from £250 for Cullen and Humphries to £1,000 for Williams.

Andy Jenkins and Prakash Jiwa's suspensions are also included. Jenkins was banned for match fixing and betting on 12 instances until 2034 while Jiwa is out of action until 2031. Same for the prior Leighton Bennett ones until 2032. Vladimir Andersen also due to inappropriate behaviour is banned until the end of this year. Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen among others don't appear on said list.

- I just think Aspinall loves the razzmatazz rather than real darts, goes on about his walk on and the premier league, loves exhibitions and proposed a 'royal rumble' and i'm not sure if it was him that suggested a Ryder Cup style tournament? I think they do need to look at how the ranking tournaments are treated, the UK Open, Euro Championships, Players' Championship all shoe-horned into four or so days rather than lasting all week and giving more players a chance to be on the big stage.Baphomet03-08-2026
- I play at home against myself, sometimes on Dartcounter, never played league or county. My best average on 501 was 107 which I hit last year. Today I was averaging 94 on a few games of 501, no warm up, just a quick chuck after dinner. I imagine it's a bit different up on stage. I play well at home though and do pretty good for only around 20 minutes play per day. 🙂PaulC02-08-2026
- Indeed I've been to Dublin on numerous occasion the atmosphere was electric and the crowd were always pumped plus the City West was a cool venue. It was a good week away The double start and finish is different and actually very enjoyable but a week in a nothing happening crime riddled city in a soulless stadium does not appeal. - I really enjoyed the Women's Matchplay, Beau seemed slightly nervous but when it mattered, she hit the big scores and required check outs. Both Gemma and Fallon had her on the ropes and were equally unlucky. I wonder what ever happened to Gemma's partner Stephanie Smee, she was a decent player that just disappeared. Good to see her. I would like to see a longer format maybe over Saturday and Sunday. It does work well and this could be an option in the World Championship, a ladies Championship run parallel with the men's like played at Lakeside. Congratulations Beau!richieburnettrocks28-07-2026
