Draw confirmed for German Darts Open: Defending champion Wright to face Labanauskas or Menzies in second round

The draw has been confirmed for the 2023 German Darts Open which takes place between September 8-10 and sees Peter Wright as the defending champion. He faces either Darius Labanauskas or Cameron Menzies.

After two months off, the European Tour returns in Jena. Wright will be joined by Dave Chisnall and Luke Humphries as the top names, with the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith skipping this time out. But they will return in Amsterdam next week then Budapest.

Friday sees Florian Hempel face James Wade, Ricardo Pietreczko will take on recent ProTour finalist, Daniel Klose. Simon Whitlock and Gian van Veen also tussle in the tie of the round.

Chisnall faces Gabriel Clemens or Luke Woodhouse, while Humphries faces the winner of the Klose-Pietreczko match. Nathan Aspinall returns and will face either Whitlock or Van Veen, as Josh Rock will take on either Connor Scutt or a resurgent in-form Jules van Dongen.

Rob Cross who finally broke his European Tour duck earlier this year, will face either Brian Raman or Nico Kurz also.
