Draw Players Championship 21: Wright awaits clash with Van Barneveld in first round

The draw for Players Championship has throw up some mouth-watering ties. The newly crowned World Matchplay champion Peter Wright takes on five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in the first round.

World number one Gerwyn Price will start his tournament against William O'Connor, while Pro Tour number one seed José de Sousa faces Lisa Ashton.

Michael van Gerwen will play against Jim McEwan in the first round. Two more eye-catching ties are Luke Humphries against Jeffrey de Zwaan and Michael Smith versus Glen Durrant.

Today's event is the first of three Players Championship tournament during the sixth edition o fthe PDC Super Series. Two more events will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
