Michael Smith will start his quest for third consecutive TV-title against Darius Labanauskas as the third edition of the Nordic Darts Masters gets underway this weekend.
The event will be held on January 20-21 at Forum Copenhagen in the Danish capital. The new World Series season started last week as Smith claimed the title at the inaugural Bahrain Darts Masters after winning the world title earlier this year.
The runner up from that final, Michael van Gerwen, will make his return in Copenhagen. After his defeat to Smith, he played a couple lucrative exhibitions before going on a holiday to Curacao with his family. That's also the reason why he didn't play at the Bahrain Darts Masters last week. Van Gerwen faces Andreas Harrysson, nicknamed 'Dirty Harry', in the first round.
The defending champion at the Nordic Darts Masters is Dimitri van den Bergh. The Belgian opens his tournament against Madars Razma, which was the most difficult draw on paper. Luke Humphries crosses swords with Marko Kantele in the first round.
Peter Wright meets Dennis Nilsson, while Gerwyn Price will throw against Benjamin Drue Reus. Rob Cross and Jonny Clayton have drawn Vladimir Andersen and Daniel Larsson respectively.
