Dream for Dutch debutant Van Trijp with straight sets win over legend Beaton at PDC World Darts Championship

Danny van Trijp is through to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship with a meeting awaiting with Jonny Clayton after an accomplished display to take down as John McDonald dubbed him the record breaking, history making 32 time World Championship participant Steve Beaton.

Receiving a superb reception as usual from the crowd, Beaton unlike last year when he took down Fallon Sherrock couldn't produce the win to send the crowd into raptures as the rising Dutchman who will make his ProTour debut next season produced an 87 average, four 180's and 33% on the outer ring in an impressive debut.

Van Trijp took a storming start to the tie sealing the opening set 3-1 and settling any early nerves and in the second, it was the same scoreline as the Dutchman punished only 20% on the doubles.

He went off the boil though after the second break and Beaton broke and hit double 16 to go one away from a set back. A 76 checkout saw the Dutchman return to the foray and he started Beaton’s throw with a 180 but missed 69 for 2-2 and Beaton returned for 76 only to miss double 20 for the set.

Van Trijp as a result came back for double 10 and was throwing for the match which he sealed with a 67 checkout.
