David Cameron is through to the second round and will face Danny Noppert next up at the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship with the World Seniors Master in a big comeback win.
Coming from 2-0 down and surviving a few match darts, Cameron was aided by the yearly appearance of the Ally Pally Wasp who sat on his back for the remainder of the tie and aided his revival.
An 80 checkout saw Edhouse seal an opening hold. A 52 checkout cemented a good start for ‘Madhouse’ and he sealed the set on double 20.
Cameron pounced after Edhouse missed darts to break and he held throw. Edhouse went six darts into a nine-dart finish but corrected it for a superb leg finishing on double six. Cameron hit double 10 to go one away from the set though.
Cameron missed three at double 10 and Edhouse made it 2-2 albeit ‘Excalibur’ was throwing for the set but Edhouse sealed the set.
Edhouse held to begin set three on double six. He pinned double 20 for a break, he missed 116 for the win and Cameron hit double 16 for a break back.
He missed 120 for the match too and Cameron sent it the distance. Another match dart came and went for Edhouse but Cameron missed three for the set only to return with three more match darts going.
Cameron finally hit double 10 for 2-1 down in sets. He began the fourth set by holding on double 16 and a 65 checkout saw Cameron head towards the brink before taking the set to send it to a decider.
A 102 checkout saw Cameron break to go 1-0 up in the decider before holding to go one away. Cameron miscounted not going for the bull on 92 hitting double 20 and Edhouse held instead of losing. Cameron missed more match darts but returned for double 10.
