Durrant on 'horrible' COVID-19 experience ahead of Grand Slam of Darts

Glen Durrant will embark on a fifth consecutive appearance at the Grand Slam of Darts after what he describes as a 'horrible' time isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.

Durrant wasn't able to play in the European Championship as a result and returned at the Winter Series where he wasn't at his best which he admits is due to the fall out after the virus.

"I feel fine now but I'm still not entirely myself. I'm on the road to recovery," said Durrant.

"I was very, very poorly. It was a really bad case of Covid that both my wife and I had.

"It knocked the stuffing out of me for about six or seven days, even to the point where I was thinking of seeking medical advice.

"It was horrible. I knew I was getting better though after a few days, and thankfully I tested negative last week.

"It's just been a horrible time, a rubbish few weeks. The upsetting thing is I never had chance to celebrate my Premier League win.

"I didn't play anything like I can at the Winter Series and that's down to what I've been through these past few weeks."
