Cross eases past Pipe, Chisnall produces comeback to defeat Humphries

The first action of the week at the Grand Slam of Darts is complete with early victories for Rob Cross and Dave Chisnall in Group D.

Cross was first out and produced a commanding victory over Justin Pipe who will know he needs an almost flawless week to qualify for the World Championship.

It wasn't to be as 'Voltage' eased past him 5-1 with a 94.61 average, two 180's and 35% on the doubles while Pipe struggled with 'The Force' hitting an 84 average and 1/5 on his doubles and he will now play Luke Humphries next in the group.

This is after Humphries lost out to Chisnall. The latter recovered from 3-1 down and survived two match darts in the deciding leg to see off 'Cool Hand Luke' in a 5-4 victory and put his first points on the board.

Neither player was rock solid on their doubles with Humphries hitting 4/15 while Chisnall was down at 5/22 but he got over the line and completed the comeback.
