On November 7, the PDC Europe Super League will kick off. This tournament gives German players who have not yet qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship the chance to qualify for the most important tournament of the year.
René Eidams is one of the participants in the Europe Super League and is looking forward to it with confidence. Commenting on a viewer question on the German channel DAZN, he shifts the favorite role to himself.
"My favorite for the Super League, that's me. I play in it myself. That's why I see myself as the favorite, that's for sure. I'm in a good mood, I'm training a lot and we're going to see.''
Eidams has set himself clear goals for the course of the Super League. "Goal number one is first of all: to stay in after the group stage. In past years, that meant getting to the last 16. Then we move on to the next group stage, two groups of eight. Also in these groups of eight there will be first and second legs. The best four from those groups will play the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final,'' said Eidams, who previously competed in the 2016 edition at Alexandra Palace.
''This tournament is the biggest chance for me to qualify myself for the World Darts Championship. Once that has succeeded, the focus is of course directly on winning the World Championship.''
