The PDC recently announced that players who compete at the
WDF World Championship will not be allowed to compete at the
PDC World Darts Championship. Referee Marco Meijer has his reservations.
Meijer has been one of the regular referees at the WDF World Championship (previously BDO World Championship) for many years. "For me, in itself, it doesn't matter who is on stage," said the 35-year-old Dutchman. "But I do feel sorry for the ladies, because at the PDC there is no separate Women's World Championship and so the WDF World Championship is their only chance. Especially for
Beau Greaves this is a difficult situation, she will really have to choose."
"I can well imagine it won't be an easy choice for her," Meijer continued. "Last year she won the WDF World Championship and got 25,000 pounds in prize money, which is quite a lot."
Greaves is frequently asked if she will participate in Q-School early next year. "But is that really necessary at this point in her career," Meijer wonders. "She can participate in the WDF tournaments, Women's Series, Modus Super Series...she can earn more with that at the moment than with the PDC I think."
"I do think it would be a good thing for Greaves to get guidance from a management agency, they can help her make the right choices and surround herself with the right people."
