It was announced Wednesday that the PDC will not allow players to compete in the WDF World Championship at Lakeside prior to the World Darts Championship. Players must therefore choose where to compete.
The decision currently affects Luke Littler, Berry van Peer and Beau Greaves, who qualified for both world championships. The 16-year-old Littler was the first to publicly make his decision.
Littler has secured qualification for the event at Alexandra Palace via the PDC Development Tour, and is also virtually qualified for the WDF World Championship via the WDF rankings.
However, the young Englishman will be seen at the PDC World Darts Championship albeit he sent his thanks to the WDF. "I want to say a massive thank you to the WDF for the opportunities I've had to play around Europe and on the Lakeside stage in the 2022 World Championships. I think the experience I've gained through playing in and winning tournaments with literally hundreds of entries will set me up nicely for my career in darts, he said."It is sad that I won't be able to take up the challenge of playing in the WDF Lakeside World Championships, but I wish all of the players and the WDF team every success at Lakeside and in the future".
