Evans on defeating Taylor in MODUS Live League: "He has been my idol since I was a kid along with Eric Bristow"

David Evans has been one of the main standouts of the MODUS Live League (Icons of Darts and A Night at the Darts) tournaments so far and he showed why in a memorable win over Phil Taylor.

Evans in the tie punished ten missed darts at double from the 16x World Champion en route to a 4-2 win with a high checkout of 127 and summed up how it was to beat a legend of the game.

"I've not played Phil Taylor since I was 11 years old. That was in an exhibition in a local pub. It was really good to think 19 years later, I'm going to be playing the 16x World Champion. To come out a 4-2 winner is brilliant, he has been my idol since I was a kid along with Eric Bristow," said Evans to Tungsten Tales.

"Some of the words he said to me afterwards were amazing, really good."

He also discussed what he will do going forward tournament wise when darts does return: "Obviously the stuff up in the air with the BDO at the moment, we didn't know if the WDF were going to take over the tournaments. I was going to carry on a few of the BDO events and the Challenge Tour. Then go forward to Q-School and have another go and get that elusive Tour Card."
