The MODUS Icons of Darts League has produced some brilliance at times but Day Two of Phase Two has seen a somewhat incredible standard on display especially from Arron Monk.
Monk is on three wins and a defeat so far and sits just behind Jason Askew who is on the same but is on better leg difference. He started his day in facing Wessel Nijman who has been one of the best so far in the Live Leagues.
Monk though swept him aside smashing in a 107 average with four 180's en route to a 4-1 win over the young Dutchman.
It became even better for the Andover ace who hit a 110 average and five 180's in seeing off the aforementioned league leader Jason Askew. The latter himself hit a 104 average with a 164 checkout his high point but he was seen off in a 4-3 defeat.
This was especially beneficial after he was edged out by Andy Jenkins in his game prior coming from 3-0 down to see off Monk.
A fourth ton plus average was hit by him though in his next tie with Mark Webster with a 105.3 in seeing off the returning former Lakeside World Champion 4-2 with a high checkout of 140.
Like alluded to though, Askew is on top and that comes after wins over Andy Jenkins (4-3), Wessel Nijman (4-1) and Mike Warburton (4-0) which just gives him the edge.
Despite Monk's heroics as well, Andy Jenkins is level with him on leg difference and points and looking back from there Wessel Nijman is on two points after four games. Scott Mitchell, Mark Webster and Mike Warburton still have a number to play before the end of proceedings.
