The Australian Darts Masters, the sixth tournament of the 2025 World Series of Darts, gets underway Friday at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong. There, Gerwyn Price begins his hunt for a second consecutive World Series of Darts title with a showdown against Australian number one Joe Comito.
The opening round of this Oceanic dual within the PDC World Series of Darts will be played on August 8 and 9. Sixteen players, including eight top PDC players and eight representatives from Oceania, will compete for the prestigious title on Australian soil.
Price, the reigning champion, impressed exactly one year ago by beating Luke Littler 8-1 in the final. The Welshman is also in excellent form this year: in July he already took the title at the Poland Darts Masters and recently he reached the quarterfinals of the World Matchplay.

"Everyone seems to be firing"

“I think there’s a lot of players in this tournament that are playing some really good darts,” conceded the 2021 World Champion.
“You’ve got the two Lukes, Josh [Rock] - Damon Heta has been playing pretty well all season, and I think I’m playing some decent stuff at the minute. Everybody seems to be firing, so it will be a tough one to win this year.
Price also stressed the importance of having fun in the game. “The main thing is I’m enjoying playing, I’m more positive in my mindset and I’m actually enjoying the travelling too which helps!”
The Welshman takes on Joe Comito, the current leader on the Dart Players Australia Pro Tour, on Friday in the battle for a spot in the last eight. The remaining first-round matches will each bring a PDC star against an Oceanic player. If Price manages to get through the first round he will take on the winner of the duel between Chris Dobey and Tim Pusey in the quarter-finals.
