Joe Cullen progressed confidently into the final day of the
German Darts Grand Prix 2025 late on Sunday afternoon. The rock star prevailed unchallenged 6-2 against Mickey Mansell from Northern Ireland. In an exclusive
interview with Dartsnews.de immediately after the match, the 35-year-old spoke about his current form and gave an insight into a special outfit plan for tomorrow's tournament.
"Yesterday's adventure was definitely a much faster than tonight's adventures" joked Cullen to
DartsNews.com who yesterday soared across Munich's Olympic Stadium on a steel cable slide as part of the traditional lederhosen dressing.
"That's the thing about Mickey, you know what to expect but he's just such a slow player. I don't think he does it to put anyone off it's just his game, but it's so hard to deal with. It's a lot easier to deal with when it's on stage as I think the crowd hurry him up. I honestly don't care, the win was the main thing."
However, Cullen assured that he had not thought too much about his opponent's game, but had concentrated on the win. "Doubles was good, if I can add the scoring to that tomorrow looking at the draw I'm likely to play Luke Littler."
Joe Cullen in conversation with media representatives
On tomorrow's final day, the rock star will face the winner of the match between Luke Littler and Cameron Crabtree. "You'll have to assume it'll be Littler but whoever it is I'll be up for it."
Cullen, who made a strong start to the 2025 season after a disappointing last year, has had to cope with somewhat weaker results of late. "It's so up and down that's the thing. I think before the year started I had a chance to put a lot of practice in and work in and I did that. But when the calendar comes thick and fast you don't get chance to practice it's just one tournament to another. I think my game suffered there. It's the same for everyone, I'm not going to stand and moan. It's been a good start and hopefully going to build on it."
When asked about his Lederhosen adventure yesterday, he also revealed exciting details about a possible outfit change for tomorrow's final day. "It was a lot more comfortable than I expected it to be. If I could win my Last 16 game tomorrow, I will speak to them and see if I can play in it in the evening session."
